Egypt and Jordan Sign Contract for Electric Power Exchange for 2026
SadaNews - Egypt and Jordan have signed a new contract for the exchange of electric power for 2026, as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and electrical connectivity.
Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Ismat, stated that the total amount of electric power transferred from Egypt to Jordan during the year 2025 reached approximately 306 million kilowatt-hours, with a total value of 28.25 million dollars, emphasizing that this cooperation reflects the success and stability of the electrical interconnection system between the two countries.
For his part, Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, affirmed the continuation of joint cooperation with the Egyptian side to enhance the capacity of the electrical interconnection line between the two countries, noting efforts to increase the capacity to reach 2000 megawatts in the coming stages, in a way that serves energy security and supports regional integration in the electricity sector.
