Martyr in Israeli Airstrike Targeting Vehicle in Frun Town, Southern Lebanon
SadaNews - A person was martyred on Friday evening in an Israeli airstrike targeting a vehicle on the outskirts of Frun town in southern Lebanon, amid the ongoing and escalating Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah since November 2024.
The Lebanese agency reported that Israeli drones flew intensively and silently over the airspace of the western and central sectors to the south, reaching the northern city of Tyre and its vicinity.
It also noted the presence of Israeli drones flying at very low altitude over Tuffahata and the surrounding area.
The Israeli army claimed on Friday that it killed 13 members of Hamas in its attack on the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in the city of Sidon in southern Lebanon last Tuesday, stating that among them was "Jowad Saidawi who had been training 'operatives' to carry out 'terrorist' operations against the army and the State of Israel from Lebanese territory.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the airstrikes and Israeli violations since November 28, 2024, shortly after signing a ceasefire agreement until November 20 of the current month, resulted in 331 martyrs and 945 injured.
The Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, called on the European Union to pressure Israel to compel it to cease its attacks on his country during his meeting with the EU's Special Representative for Human Rights, Kaisa Ollongren, at the Baabda Palace east of Beirut.
In the meeting, Aoun expressed that Lebanon welcomes any support from the European Union in various fields, especially after the withdrawal of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) operating in the south; emphasizing that European presence in the south would be "a positive factor during the continuation of the Lebanese army's deployment in southern Litani until the international borders" with Israel.
He stressed that Lebanon "adhered to all terms of the agreement, while Israel continues to violate it and exacerbates its attacks, reaching the targeting of residential buildings and official facilities, in addition to breaching the blue line by constructing a concrete wall at the border, which has been confirmed by United Nations reports"; stressing the "necessity of the international community, especially the European Union, to exert pressure on Israel to compel it to halt its attacks on Lebanon and adhere to the agreement to end hostilities".
On Thursday, UNIFIL announced that it had recorded more than 10,000 air and ground violations within Lebanese territory since the ceasefire took effect in the country.
Since October last year, the Israeli army has intensified its attacks on Lebanon. This agreement tried to end the aggression launched by Israel on Lebanon in October 2023, which then turned into a comprehensive war in September 2024, during which more than 4,000 people were killed and about 17,000 injured.
Since signing the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, Israel violates this agreement daily, while it continues to occupy 5 Lebanese hills in the south that it seized during the last war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has occupied for decades.
