The laboratory was involved in repackaging medications, manipulating expiration dates, and selling them under the names of global trade brands, along with seizing large quantities of medicines, tools, and ready-to-pack containers.
The operation came after accurate information was obtained by the General Investigations Department regarding the presence of a laboratory inside one of the houses in the governorate. A search warrant was issued by the public prosecution, and a force from the General Investigations Department was mobilized, supported by the special police, local police stations, and the narcotics unit, along with the National Security Forces.
During the search, large quantities of unlicensed medications were seized, in addition to other quantities of ready-to-pack containers, repackaging materials, and tools being used in violation of the law.
These items were confiscated for further legal procedures, while four individuals suspected of managing the counterfeiting and manufacturing operations and illegally trading in these drugs were arrested.
The police confirmed that they are continuing their efforts with all relevant agencies to pursue anyone attempting to tamper with the health and safety of citizens and to work decisively to maintain public health and safety.
