In the Presence of the Minister of Interior: The "Bridges of Rescue" Exercise Demonstrates National Preparedness for Emergency Response

SadaNews - In the presence of Minister of Interior Ziad Hab Al-Reeh, a number of governors, ambassadors, and leaders of security agencies, the Civil Defense Department executed the unified response exercise "Bridges of Rescue" today at the Independence University in Jericho, under the patronage of President Mahmoud Abbas, as part of the conclusion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction activities.

The exercise included an exhibition of firefighting, rescue, medical, and public safety equipment, along with a virtual reality experience that allowed participants to simulate responses to risks. It also featured a comprehensive field training exercise that included 14 scenarios for firefighting, search, and rescue operations in various field conditions, with the participation of civil defense crews, security teams, partner institutions, and 150 volunteers.

In his speech, the Minister of Interior conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa, and their deep appreciation for all national efforts made to strengthen the disaster risk reduction and management system. He pointed out that risk reduction is not just a reaction during crises but a proactive and comprehensive national approach based on planning, readiness, and coordination among all partners in the national system.

Minister Hab Al-Reeh explained that the Palestinian government pays great attention to enhancing national preparedness in facing disasters, reviewing the comprehensive national plan adopted by the government for all governorates, which includes three phases: emergency response, comprehensive relief, and early recovery. He confirmed that the Ministry of Interior continues to develop national policies and build the capabilities of field workers in collaboration and coordination with various partner entities.

At the conclusion of his speech, the Minister of Interior praised the efforts of the Civil Defense Department, security agencies, and partner institutions in executing this qualitative exercise, emphasizing that disaster risk reduction is a collective responsibility that requires planning, knowledge, and solidarity to protect our people and the nation's resources.
