Discovery of Remains of One of the Oldest Dinosaurs in the World
SadaNews - Argentine scientists have discovered fossilized bones of one of the oldest types of dinosaurs in the world in the Andes Mountains, according to the "Conicet" research agency.
The team, consisting of excavation scientists led by the institute, discovered a nearly complete skeleton of this small, long-necked reptile, scientifically named "Hueracornis jaguensis," at an altitude of 3,000 meters in northwestern Argentina.
"Conicet" noted that the team found part of the dinosaur's skull, a complete vertebral column extending to the tail, and nearly intact front and hind limbs.
Researchers indicated that this discovery, the results of which were published in the journal "Nature," will enrich research related to the evolution of species.
Augustin Martinelli, one of the researchers, explained that estimates of "Hueracornis" suggest that it roamed the Earth between 230 and 225 million years ago, making it one of the oldest dinosaurs in the world.
