The General Union of Palestinian Lawyers in Europe: The Crimes of the Occupation in Gaza Amount to Genocide
SadaNews - The General Union of Palestinian Lawyers in Europe strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, warning that the systematic policies of the occupation, including the destruction of homes and infrastructure, forced displacement, and starvation, amount to crimes against humanity and may reach the level of genocide.
The union emphasized in a statement issued today that it is closely monitoring the field developments in Palestine, stressing that the Israeli violations will not go unaccounted for legally. It announced its intention to document the crimes and file complaints with the International Criminal Court and courts with universal jurisdiction.
The union called on the international community to impose effective measures, including halting military and political support for the occupation, enforcing serious sanctions, and opening urgent humanitarian corridors to ensure the delivery of food, medicine, and essential aid to civilians. It also held the Arab and Islamic regimes morally and politically responsible for what is happening, urging them to take practical stances in line with the requirements of Arab and Islamic solidarity.
The statement urged human rights organizations and civil society in Europe and the world to intensify legal, political, and media pressure, and to organize peaceful campaigns to support the Palestinian people's right to life and dignity and to reject attempts at forced displacement and settlement.
The union concluded its statement by reaffirming its readiness to cooperate with judicial and human rights institutions and media outlets to document violations and protect witnesses and victims, emphasizing that the world's silence or attempts at justification will not deter us from continuing the legal, moral, and political struggle until our people achieve their freedom, dignity, and justice.
