The skin is known as a living organ that can undergo several changes throughout our life stages. It reflects the passage of time through fine lines and wrinkles, but it can also develop spots or even small pimples and redness.
In these last cases, it is important to differentiate between acne and rosacea as they are similar. Rosacea is usually defined as a chronic skin problem resulting from damage to small blood vessels in the face, specifically in the areas of the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. Its manifestations include redness, swelling, sensitivity, the appearance of small vessels, pimples, and even oily skin.
- Necessary Steps:
If you suffer from rosacea, it is essential to avoid excessive stress, consuming spicy foods, and direct sun exposure without protection. Additionally, you must use skincare products specifically designed for sensitive skin and ensure they are non-comedogenic. Choose a skin cleanser that contains ingredients like sulfur and azelaic acid, along with a rich moisturizer containing tiger grass extract. The ingredients to avoid in the products you use are: alcohol, camphor, glycolic acid, lactic acid, menthol, urea, and sodium lauryl sulfate.
• Test products before use:
For sensitive skin, it is recommended to test any new product on a small area on the inner side of the arm for seven consecutive days to ensure it does not cause any allergies before starting to use it on the face.
• Do not neglect skin cleansing:
Some may think it is better to skip the cleansing step when the skin is irritated, but that will not benefit it, especially since cleansing twice daily helps remove sebum and dirt that exacerbate skin problems. It is advisable to choose a gentle cleanser and massage it onto the skin after moistening it with water, using circular motions with your fingertips. It is also essential to rinse the face to remove any residues present on the skin and then gently dry it with a clean towel.

Dermatologists recommend daily moisturizing of the skin after cleansing, even if it is oily, as this step helps protect it from dryness and reduces exposure to irritation.
• Do not neglect sun protection:
Using sunscreen is essential for the care of all skin types. It is especially important for skin suffering from rosacea. Dermatologists also advise against direct sun exposure in this case and wearing accessories that protect the skin, such as hats and sunglasses. It is recommended to use a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of no less than 30, and it is best to have a formula containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
• Approach skin care gently:
It is essential to treat skin that suffers from rosacea gently, especially when cleansing or caring for it. Avoid rubbing or scratching it, and refrain from using peeling products and exfoliating sponges that may exacerbate the rosacea condition.
• Use makeup products to conceal redness:
If you feel embarrassed about the redness or visible spots on your skin, doctors recommend using concealers. Choose a concealer with a yellow hue to cover any discoloration on the skin, while a green concealer can neutralize redness. It is worth mentioning that some makeup products can cause skin irritation; therefore, dermatologists recommend using water-based or powder formulations and avoiding oily formulations that may worsen the rosacea condition.
