Demonstrations in Several European Countries Demand an End to the Genocide in Gaza
SadaNews - Thousands gathered today, Saturday, in several European countries, including Italy and Germany, to demand an end to the war of genocide and starvation in the Gaza Strip.
Thousands participated in a large demonstration that took place on the sidelines of the Venice Film Festival in Italy. During the demonstration, which was called for by leftist organizations, banners were raised urging an end to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and a boycott of Israel.
Additionally, thousands demonstrated in the German city of Frankfurt under the slogan "United for Gaza."
Al Jazeera correspondent Ayman Al-Zubair stated that the scene in Frankfurt is unprecedented in the context of protests demanding an end to the war on Gaza, noting that organizers expected the number of participants in the demonstration to reach 100,000.
Al-Zubair added that this large demonstration took place despite the restrictions that organizers said the authorities imposed on them.
The correspondent continued that there is a great sense of anger among German citizens towards their government's stance, which they accuse of complicity with Israeli policies.
The police intensified their presence around the demonstration and confirmed that they would respond firmly if any unlicensed or unlawful slogans were chanted, as they expressed.
Earlier, local authorities had canceled the organization of the demonstration; however, the Supreme Administrative Court annulled the ban, affirming the organizers' right to hold it.
The Dutch city of Rotterdam also witnessed a protest calling on the international community to urgently intervene to end the Israeli genocide war in Gaza.
Participants condemned the ongoing Israeli massacres in Gaza and the starvation faced by the inhabitants of the strip amidst international silence described by the demonstrators as disgraceful.
They also raised slogans calling for the lifting of the siege on Gaza, allowing food and medical aid to reach its residents, ending the occupation, and holding Israeli war criminals and all those involved in the genocide accountable.
In Brussels, there was a gathering of dozens of doctors around the European Parliament in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.
The participants, who responded to a call from Palestinian doctors in Europe, issued a plea to the international community to rescue the health sector in Gaza.
Protesters denounced the Israeli bombardment targeting hospitals and medical personnel, as well as the blocking of medication and medical aid to the sector, in violation of international law and human rights.
The Norwegian capital, Oslo, also witnessed a demonstration demanding an end to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
Demonstrators called on their government to make greater diplomatic efforts to ensure an immediate ceasefire and allow aid to enter Gaza.
They also condemned what they perceived as the complacency of European governments regarding what they claim are genocidal crimes committed by Israel against Palestinians.
In Stockholm, activists organized a symbolic funeral for journalists who were martyred by the occupation's fire in Khan Younis.
