Anticipated Talks Involving the Nuclear File Gather Tehran and the European Troika
SadaNews - Tomorrow, Tuesday, talks will be held between Iran, Germany, France, and Britain in Geneva, Switzerland, regarding Tehran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions on it.
An informed source told the Iranian agency "Tasnim" that "Iran and the three European countries agreed to hold these nuclear negotiations," clarifying that "the agenda will focus on nuclear issues and the topic of lifting sanctions."
According to the report, Majid Takht-Ravanchi heads the Iranian delegation in the Geneva negotiations, while deputies of the foreign ministers from Germany, France, and Britain will participate.
Last Friday, the foreign ministers of the three European countries and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy held a joint phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
During the call, the Iranian side presented the Islamic Republic's positions regarding the "snapback" mechanism (automatic re-imposition of sanctions) and the responsibility of the three European countries and the EU in this regard, affirming that "these countries are legally and morally unqualified to resort to this mechanism," and warning of the repercussions of such a measure.
For their part, the foreign ministers of the three European countries and the EU High Representative reiterated during the phone call their readiness for Europe to find a diplomatic solution.
In conclusion, it was decided that the discussions between Iran and the three European countries and the EU will continue tomorrow, Tuesday, at the level of deputy foreign ministers.
