Protests Against Gaza Siege and Calls for Punishing Israel in Several Countries
SadaNews - Popular protests continued in several Arab and European countries, rejecting the Israeli occupation policies in the Gaza Strip and condemning the ongoing Western support for the war of extermination, accompanied by calls for immediate sanctions on Tel Aviv and an end to the policies of starvation and siege.
In the Moroccan city of Tangier, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on Saturday evening, responding to the call of "the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy". They had been staged in the El-Makazin Square since the morning before marching through the city's streets, chanting slogans such as: "The people want to liberate Palestine" and "Oh free people everywhere, no Zionists and no Americans".
The protesters called for an end to the starvation policy and for the protection of civilians, holding the international community responsible for its silence regarding the ongoing crimes in Gaza.
In the capital, Tunis, activists from "the Tunisian Network for Combating Normalization" held a protest in front of the American embassy for the 88th time since the outbreak of war, denouncing the continuous American support for the crimes of the occupation.
The protesters raised slogans including: "Zionists and Americans are partners in aggression" and "Shame on Gaza under siege". Participants called for the closure of the embassy and the expulsion of the American ambassador, considering that Washington is a full partner in the extermination of Palestinians.
In Austria, the capital Vienna witnessed a demonstration attended by hundreds of supporters of Palestine, who raised Palestinian flags and banners reading: "Freedom for Palestine" and "Stop the genocide".
The demonstrators called on the Austrian government to impose sanctions on Israel and to stop supplying it with military equipment, while activists emphasized that silence regarding the extermination in Gaza represents unacceptable complicity.
These popular movements come at a time when the humanitarian situation in Gaza is worsening, with the death toll from malnutrition rising to 281 Palestinians, including 114 children, while Israel continues to close crossings and prevent aid from entering, amid a war that has claimed more than 62,000 martyrs and 157,000 injured since October, most of whom are children and women, amidst a disregard for international calls and the International Court of Justice's orders to halt the extermination.
