Emergency Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries Regarding Developments in Palestine

SadaNews Special: Diplomatic sources confirmed to "SadaNews" that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries will hold an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers on Sunday and Monday, the 24th and 25th of this month, in the city of Jeddah. This is based on an official request submitted by the State of Palestine through its permanent representative, Ambassador Hadi Shobly, which was joined by Turkey and Iran.

This meeting will take place with wide participation from foreign ministers of Islamic countries, reflecting the importance of the event and the depth of international concern over the escalation in Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where war and famine are worsening, amidst Israeli calls to occupy the sector and practices of Judaization affecting Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The meeting will also discuss statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding his vision for the so-called "Greater Israel," in addition to the continued detention of Palestinian tax funds (clearance funds), which has led to a severe ongoing financial crisis in Palestine.

The meeting is expected to commend the countries that have taken the initiative to officially recognize the State of Palestine, while urging those that have not yet done so to take similar steps. It will also emphasize the necessity of activating international law, including the advisory opinion issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, which calls for the arrest of Netanyahu due to the violations committed.

According to sources, a strong and clear final statement is expected to be issued, reflecting the unity of the Islamic position regarding the Palestinian issue, and paving the way for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly meeting, which includes a project to recognize the Palestinian state led by France and Saudi Arabia.

The Palestinian delegation at this international event will be headed by Ambassador Riyad Mansour, Palestine's permanent representative to the United Nations.
