Europe Protests with 42,000 Events Against Israeli Aggression on Gaza

SadaNews - The Palestinian-European Media Center (Ebal) documented about 42,000 demonstrations and events in support of the Palestinian cause in more than 700 cities across 20 European countries, following nearly 675 days of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Gaza Strip.

Ebal indicated that these events and demonstrations included various European nationalities, in addition to several political parties, politicians, and parliamentary members, all expressing their rejection of the genocide and massacres perpetrated by Israel.

Regarding the impact of these demonstrations on European political orientations, the Palestinian-European Center clarified that these events have a significant impact within European society, especially concerning the isolation currently faced by Israel, whether cultural or educational, and that they contribute to increasing support for the Palestinian cause and its justice at the expense of the long-promoted Israeli narrative.

Documentation Mechanism

In light of this large number of demonstrations and events across Europe, Maher Hijazi, a member of the board at Ebal, explained that they follow several mechanisms to document these activities, relying on the efforts of correspondents, collaborators, and volunteers present in various European cities.

Hijazi added - in an interview with Al Jazeera Net - that they also depend on the live broadcasting of these events through the center's various platforms.

The board member at Ebal confirmed that they have managed to document about 42,000 demonstrations and events in 20 European countries during the 675 days of genocide being waged by the Israeli occupation against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.

He stated, "These booming voices in Europe reflect significant support for the Palestinian cause and a rejection of the genocide, as they call on governments and countries to pressure the occupation to stop its aggression and end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza."

Impact of Demonstrations in Europe

Regarding the results and impacts reflected on solidarity with nearly 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza, Hijazi said that in their work, "we seek to convey the voice of these demonstrations rejecting the Israeli genocide against our people inside Gaza, and to carry the message of the supportive crowds for the Palestinian people."

He added, "These movements and events raise slogans opposing the starvation of Gaza, condemning Israeli policies aimed at preventing the entry of aid and targeting our people in what is known as death traps in aid distribution centers."

As for the effect within European societies themselves, the Ebal center official stated that after this large number of activities and events supporting Palestine, many voices in Europe have risen, demanding their governments to exert real pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (wanted by the International Court of Justice) to stop the aggression against the Palestinian people, end the war, and allow humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Regarding the fruits that the Palestinian cause is currently reaping, Hijazi clarified that "in recent days we have witnessed a clear intensification of these events condemning Israeli crimes against journalists in Gaza, especially the crime of assassinating Anas Sharif and Mohammed Qariqa and others among the martyrs of Al Jazeera."
