The Barghouti Family and Palestinian Entities: "We Fear for His Assassination"
SadaNews - Israeli Minister of National Security, extremist Itamar Ben Gvir, directly threatened the Palestinian prisoner and leader Marwan Barghouti after he stormed his cell where he is held in solitary confinement.
Ben Gvir threatened Barghouti saying, "You will not win against us; those who harm the people of Israel, and those who kill children and women, we will wipe them out. You must know this for the long term."
Far-right platforms circulated a video showing Ben Gvir threatening prisoner Barghouti inside his cell; Israeli reports indicated that the storming of the cell occurred earlier on Thursday.
The Prisoners' Media Office reported that "extremist Itamar Ben Gvir stormed the solitary confinement section at 'Ghanout' prison (previously known as Ramon and Nafha prisons)."
It added that Ben Gvir "assaulted the leading prisoner Marwan Barghouti and directly threatened him inside his cell, stating: 'You will not win against us; those who harm the people of Israel, and those who kill children and women, we will wipe them out.'"
The Prisoners' Media Office pointed out that "the scene reveals the mentality of revenge and incitement that leads the Israeli prison system."
Barghouti's family: We fear for his assassination within his cell.
The family of prisoner Marwan Barghouti expressed their "deep concern and genuine fear of his execution by direct order from extremist Itamar Ben Gvir, especially after he stormed his cell and made explicit threats"; according to the Prisoners' Media Office.
The family stated they were shocked by "Marwan's pallid and exhausted appearance, and the signs of hunger and exhaustion that were clearly visible on him, indicating harsh and deliberate detention conditions targeting him physically and psychologically."
The Barghouti family fears that "the cell may turn into a slow execution chamber by political decision in light of the shameful international silence."
Prisoner Organization: Ben Gvir's arrival to Marwan Barghouti's cell is a direct threat to his life.
The head of the Committee for Prisoners and Released Prisoners, Raed Abu Al-Hamss, held extremist Minister Itamar Ben Gvir "fully responsible for the life of prisoner leader Marwan Barghouti, whose cell was stormed today by a special suppression unit, headed by this extremist minister with the blessing and urging of Netanyahu and his government."
Abu Al-Hamss said, "Ben Gvir's arrival at the cell of leader Abu Al-Qassam is a public threat, and his words and the discussion contained within them indicate dangerous intentions hidden by this tormented racist."
He added, "Ben Gvir has tortured prisoners in front of the cameras and has many precedents filled with hatred and racism. His audacity against a leader like Abu Al-Qassam transcends all red lines, and we are concerned for his life."
Abu Al-Hamss called for the Palestinian people to "stand up for Abu Al-Qassam and his sacrifices, and urged all international formations to take immediate action to provide protection for this leader, who represents a national unity among the Palestinian people."
Hussein Sheikh: Ben Gvir's threat to Barghouti constitutes an unprecedented outbreak in the occupation's policy against Palestinian prisoners.
Palestinian Vice President Hussein Sheikh stated that "Ben Gvir's threat to leader Marwan Barghouti in his prison is the pinnacle of psychological, moral, and physical terrorism practiced against prisoners, and it represents a blow to international and humanitarian covenants and norms."
He added, "This constitutes an unprecedented outbreak in the occupation's policy against Palestinian prisoners, necessitating immediate intervention from international organizations and institutions to protect them."
Prisoner Club: Ben Gvir's threat to leader Barghouti is a declaration of the occupation's intentions to liquidate him and other leaders of the prisoner movement.
The head of the Palestinian Prisoner Club, Abdullah Al-Zaghari, confirmed that "the threat made by fascist Minister Itamar Ben Gvir against national leader Marwan Barghouti, which appeared in a video clip this evening, is a clear declaration of the occupation's intentions to liquidate him and assassinate the leaders incarcerated in its jails, amid unprecedented crimes against the prisoners since the commencement of the extermination war."
Al-Zaghari pointed out that Ben Gvir's threat "doubles the fears for Barghouti's fate, who has been isolated since the beginning of the war in solitary confinement cells, and is currently held in 'Ramon' prison alongside dozens of leaders of the prisoner movement, facing harsh and tragic conditions including starvation, deprivation of medical treatment, and systematic assaults, including severe beatings during suppression operations carried out by armed special units."
He explained that "Barghouti and dozens of leaders have been subjected to repeated assaults resulting in varying injuries, in addition to the prison administration's continued obstruction of their visits, and their repeated transfer, which is accompanied by brutal assaults."
Al-Zaghari held the occupation authorities fully responsible for Barghouti's life and safety, reiterating his call for the international system to restore its effective role in confronting the extermination war, stopping the systematic crimes against prisoners, and ending the ongoing complicity and impotence in the face of the occupation's policies."
Earlier, prisoner organizations had warned of the escalation of crimes against the leaders of the prisoner movement and of repeated attempts to liquidate them; according to a statement issued by the Palestinian Prisoner Club.
