Mistakes to Avoid for Healthy Skin
SadaNews - Blackheads, oily secretions, and pimples are some of the most common skin problems, and their causes are numerous, including neglect and poor care.
Here are 7 mistakes to avoid in order to maintain healthy, radiant skin.
Skin is usually affected by surrounding external factors and the lifestyle adopted, while its problems may arise from a combination of factors, including:
• Neglecting skin care or using products that are unsuitable for skin type.
• Following an unbalanced diet rich in sugars and fats.
• Not moisturizing and nourishing it with serums and creams daily.
• Psychological stress and insomnia.
• Pollution.
• Exposing it to the sun without using appropriate protection products.
• Hormonal changes that occur at certain life stages, most notably puberty and menopause.
- Serious Skin Mistakes:
Some daily habits can constitute serious mistakes and lead to various cosmetic problems. Here are a few of them:
1- Using Products that Don't Suit Skin Type:
The first mistake to avoid is using products that are not suitable for the skin type, as cosmetic creams and serums often contain carefully selected effective ingredients due to their characteristics. For instance, using products designed for oily skin on dry skin can lead to dark spots or blackheads. The best approach in this case is to use creams designed for combination to oily skin, which are typically rich in moisturizing, purifying, and mattifying ingredients.
2- Over-exfoliating the Skin:
Exfoliating the face with homemade mixtures containing sugar is considered a mistaken practice in skin care. Sugar can be too harsh on the face, which is usually thin and sensitive. It is also advisable to avoid excessive exfoliation by using harsh products, and to adopt a gentle exfoliant specifically for the face, to be used no more than once a week.
3- Popping Pimples:
Popping pimples on the face can spread germs and bacteria on the skin and leave scars. It is advisable to use medications available at the pharmacy that help speed up healing of pimples.
4- Not Cleaning the Skin Before Sleep:
Cleaning the skin is a fundamental step in the daily skin care routine. It is necessary in the evening before bed, whether there is makeup on the skin or not, as cleaning removes dirt, secretions, and products that have accumulated throughout the day. It is advisable to choose a gentle cleanser suitable for the skin type.
5- Using Coconut Oil to Remove Makeup:
Coconut oil has many benefits for hair and body skin, but using it to remove makeup from the face is not a good idea, as it can clog the pores and lead to blackheads. It is advisable to replace it with other oils suitable for makeup removal, such as jojoba oil, or with a makeup remover milk specifically designed for this purpose.
6- Not Moisturizing the Skin Adequately:
Moisturizing is an important step in maintaining skin health and youth. Daily external moisturizing is essential, using a cream suitable for the skin type, applied after removing makeup and cleaning the face. Hydration should also be internal by drinking enough water throughout the day.
7- Not Adopting a Balanced Diet:
Skin health does not depend solely on adopting a cosmetic care routine but also on following a balanced diet that is rich in the nutritional components the skin needs, which can be found in vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, grains, seeds, and nuts, while avoiding large amounts of fats, sugars, and salts.
