The Occupation Notifies of the Demolition of All Homes in the Village of Al-Na'man East of Bethlehem
SadaNews - The Israeli occupation authorities notified the residents of the village of Al-Na'man, located east of Bethlehem, this Saturday morning of the demolition of all homes in the village, which number 45 inhabited houses, some of which have been standing for 75 years, the newest of which dates back to 35 years.
The General Supervisor of the Baider Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights and Targeted Villages, Hassan Malihat, stated in a press release that this action represents a serious escalation of the displacement policies pursued by the occupation authorities against Palestinian villages, especially those located within areas targeted for confiscation and settlement expansion.
Al-Na'man village, which established a village council in 2013 in an attempt to confront the occupation's plans, is one of the besieged and targeted villages, with a population of about 150 people and an area of about 1,500 dunams, where construction has been prohibited for 32 years under arbitrary Israeli military decisions.
As a result of this ongoing restriction and the prohibition of construction, about 100 citizens have been forced to leave the village over the past years, in one of the forms of the silent forced displacement that the occupation forces practice against the Palestinian people.
Malihat warned that this plan falls within a systematic policy to uproot residents from their land and erase the Palestinian presence from targeted areas.
He emphasized that the steadfastness of the people of Al-Na'man village and their insistence on their right to remain is the natural response to the attempts of demolition and elimination, and this land will remain a witness to their roots despite all attempts at erasure and displacement.
In another context, settlers, this Saturday morning, unleashed their livestock around the homes of citizens in the village of Shalal Al-Aouja north of Jericho.
Malihat clarified in a press release that these practices are repeated in multiple areas of the Jordan Valley and directly affect the lifestyle of local residents, especially in Bedouin communities that rely on agriculture and herding as primary sources of income.
