Occupation notifies for the third time to demolish all houses in the village of Al-Na'man east of Bethlehem
SadaNews - Israeli occupation forces notified today, Wednesday, of the demolition of all houses in the village of Al-Na'man, east of Bethlehem.
The head of the village council of Al-Na'man, Jamal Al-Darawi, informed the official agency that the occupation police, accompanied by employees from the municipality of the occupation in Jerusalem, raided the village and delivered notifications for the third time within months since the beginning of this year, which include the demolition of all 35 homes in the village, consisting of 45 apartments, under the pretext of not being licensed, all of which are inhabited, with the newest constructed 35 years ago and the oldest 75 years ago.
Al-Darawi pointed out that there is a lawyer following up on the file related to the houses, who is racing against time to prevent the occupation from executing its plan to demolish the homes in the village.
He explained that the village, where a village council was established in 2013 to confront the plans of the occupation, has a population of 150 residents and an area of 1500 dunams, with construction prohibited for 32 years.
Al-Darawi noted that the occupation's prohibition on citizens from building in the village has forced about 100 citizens to leave in search of housing.
He added that the occupation's policy aims to expel the village's residents and annex it to the boundaries of the municipality of the occupation in Jerusalem, indicating that about two years ago, the occupation court approved imposing what is known as the property tax "Arnona" on all houses in the village for the previous six years, where between 30,000 to 60,000 shekels have been paid for each house.
The village of Al-Na'man is located east of the Bethlehem governorate, about 4.5 km from the city center. It is bordered to the east by the lands of the village of Al-Khas, to the north by the lands of the town of Sur Baher in occupied Jerusalem, and to the west and south by the city of Beit Sahour.
It is noteworthy that the occupation first notified the houses of demolition on January 26, and the second notification was on June 10 of this year.
