"Ministry of Health" Announces Hugo Chavez Hospital Laboratory Obtaining ISO 15189:2022 International Accreditation
SadaNews - The Ministry of Health announced today, Monday, that the Hugo Chavez Hospital laboratory in the town of Tarmasia, northeast of Ramallah, has obtained the ISO 15189:2022 international accreditation, thus becoming the first government laboratory in Palestine to receive this accreditation according to the new version of the global standard for the quality and competence of medical laboratories.
In a statement issued by the ministry, "This achievement is considered a significant step in the framework of the comprehensive development plan implemented by the ministry to accredit all government laboratories according to the highest international standards, as the ministry had previously obtained the accreditation certificate according to the previous version ISO 15189:2012 for five government laboratories."
Health Minister Majid Abu Ramadan praised this achievement, affirming that it reflects the ministry's commitment to enhancing the efficiency and quality of health services provided to the Palestinian citizen, and translates its efforts towards establishing a quality culture and applying global standards in the health sector, thereby boosting citizens' trust in government health institutions and ensuring the provision of accurate and safe laboratory services that keep pace with scientific progress.
For his part, the assistant undersecretary for medical support professions and blood banks, Osama Al-Najjar, confirmed that this new accreditation comes as a culmination of a continuous modernization process and adherence to global standards in laboratory services, reflecting the ministry's commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory performance across its various health facilities.
Al-Najjar valued the distinguished efforts exerted by the laboratory staff at Hugo Chavez Hospital, the General Director of Medical Laboratories Nidal Al-Aloona, the Director of the Quality and Quality Control Department Hayat Qaraqei, as well as the efforts of the various administrative teams, and their pursuit to work towards accrediting the remaining laboratories of the Ministry of Health according to international accreditation specifications.
The accreditation certificate was granted after the laboratory passed the external auditing process conducted by the Accreditation Department at the Ministry of National Economy – General Administration of Specifications and Standards, which confirms the technical staff's commitment to the highest levels of quality and accuracy in laboratory work.
