Police Emphasizes Obligation of Vehicle Key Programming and Duplication Shop Owners to Adhere to Its Instructions
SadaNews - The General Directorate of Police emphasized the necessity for owners of vehicle key programming and duplication shops to refrain from programming or duplicating any key for any vehicle, unless they verify the identity of the person requesting the service by presenting a personal identity card and the original vehicle license for which they wish to duplicate keys.
The police requested that these shop owners record the person's information in a special register that includes: full name, identity number, vehicle number, and date and time of the duplication or programming process.
It clarified that this procedure comes as part of efforts made by the General Investigation Department to reduce incidents of vehicle theft, which have recently increased due to key duplication without sufficient verification of the vehicle owners' identities.
The police called on all those working in this field to fully comply with the above, under the threat of legal accountability.
