I'm not happy with the call with Putin.. Trump: America has provided too many weapons to Ukraine
SadaNews - Last night, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his country had provided a lot of weapons to Ukraine during the previous administration, in his first public comments regarding the halt of some military shipments to Kiev amid Russia's escalation of its recent attack.
Trump spoke to reporters before boarding the presidential plane heading to Iowa, stating that former President Joe Biden "emptied our entire country of weapons, and we need to make sure we have enough for ourselves."
The weapons withheld from Ukraine include air defense missiles, precision-guided artillery, and other armaments.
Trump, who also spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday, noted that he is not cutting American assistance to Ukraine completely.
He added, "We have provided a lot of weapons," further stating, "We are working with them, and we are trying to help them."
Trump mentioned that he had a "very long call" with Putin that "did not make any progress" in resolving the war, which the Republican president had promised to end quickly.
He said, "I am not happy about that."
The Kremlin described the conversation as "frank and constructive," marking the sixth publicly disclosed conversation between the two leaders since Trump returned to the White House.
Yuri Ushakov, Putin's foreign affairs adviser, reported that during discussions about the situation in Iran and the broader Middle East, Putin emphasized the need to resolve all disputes "exclusively by political and diplomatic means."
He added that the two leaders agreed that Russian and American officials would remain in contact regarding this issue.
