Netanyahu Waits.. Lapid Visits the UAE and Meets with Bin Zayed
Translation by SadaNews - Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid met with Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed on Thursday evening at his palace in Abu Dhabi.
Lapid's office stated in a statement released on Friday morning, as translated by SadaNews, that the meeting took place during a quick visit he made to the UAE.
He also noted that he met during the visit with Emirati Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed.
Lapid discussed with the Emirati officials regional developments, including the utmost importance of ensuring the return of all captives from Gaza.
Since the normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel, many Israeli officials, especially from the opposition, have met with their Emirati counterparts.
As of now, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu still has not had any public meeting with any Emirati official inside the UAE.
It remains unclear whether these visits by Israeli officials are made at the invitation of the UAE itself, as Netanyahu has received invitations twice to visit the UAE, both of which were postponed at the last moment.
It seems that Netanyahu is waiting for a third invitation from the UAE to be extended to him.
