Fattouh: The Call to Apply Israeli Sovereignty over the West Bank is a Highly Dangerous Development and an Aggressive Trend
SadaNews - The President of the Palestinian National Council, Rouhi Fattouh, stated that the calls made by several ministers and members of the occupation's Knesset to apply Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank fall within the objectives of the colonial right-wing government and represent a highly dangerous development and an aggressive trend.
Fattouh added, in a statement issued today, Thursday, that these remarks constitute a blatant violation of international law, United Nations resolutions, and the Arab peace initiative, revealing a systematic escalation aimed at eliminating any opportunity for achieving peace and stability in the region.
He explained that this trend is nothing more than an overt attempt to escalate the conflict and export the internal political crises faced by the occupation government, through a policy of moving forward and imposing facts by force, asserting that these policies will not succeed in canceling the Palestinian presence or obliterating its national identity.
He indicated that the partnerships which the occupation government seeks to promote with international parties, aimed at covering up these illegal measures, do not exempt it from responsibility, but rather exacerbate the seriousness of the situation and push towards a comprehensive explosion, due to the absence of political solutions and their replacement with aggression and expansion, which will not confer any legal legitimacy.
Fattouh called on the international community, including the Security Council, the European Union, and the Arab League, to take clear positions and deterrent measures towards this dangerous Israeli trend, which aims not only at Palestinian land but also undermines any possibility of reviving a political process.
He emphasized that our Palestinian people will fail all colonial projects, racist and aggressive plans, and attempts to impose occupation sovereignty over any part of our Palestinian land, and will not allow the denial of their national rights.
