The Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation Chairs the Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI)
SadaNews Economy - In a new achievement that reflects the growing presence of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation on the international stage, its Director General, Mr. Louai Hawash, has been elected as the Chair of the Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) established by the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI).
Regional committees within the association are specialized platforms dedicated to enhancing dialogue on priority issues at the regional level, transferring viewpoints, and addressing specific challenges of each region to the international level, thereby contributing to enriching the global policies and initiatives of the association.
These committees also play a pivotal role in promoting coordination and integration with the association's action plans, in addition to proposing initiatives and recommendations to the Executive Council in line with the strategic objectives of the association.
In this context, the Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) plays a central role in supporting the implementation of the core principles issued by the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) and enhancing the exchange of knowledge and experiences among members, contributing to aligning regional practices with international standards and strengthening the effectiveness of deposit insurance systems in the region.
The committee also provides a comprehensive regional framework for coordinating efforts among members, discussing priority issues, and enhancing cooperation with regional partners, in addition to supporting the adoption of best international practices and developing institutional capacities in deposit insurance and financial stability.
In this context, Mr. Louai Hawash stated that this role represents a strategic pivot for enhancing regional integration in the field of deposit insurance and supporting the development of frameworks and policies that align with international standards and best practices.
He added that the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation seeks, through its role in the committee, to deepen cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience among members, contributing to enhancing financial stability and building trust in the banking systems in the region.
This role embodies the growing presence of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation on the international scene and the confidence of the international financial community in its competencies and expertise, enhancing Palestine's position in global financial forums.
