Palestine Bank Donates Hearing Test Device in Support of the National Hearing Screening Program for Newborns in Cooperation with 'Think Palestine' and the Ministry of Health
SadaNews - In a move that reflects its firm commitment to community responsibility and its developmental role, Palestine Bank has donated an advanced hearing test device in support of the national hearing screening program for newborns in government hospitals, implemented by the Think Palestine Association in partnership with the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The launch of this program was announced during a press conference held at the Millennium Hotel in Ramallah, attended by the management of the Think Palestine Association, alongside His Excellency Minister of Health Dr. Majid Abu Ramadan, as well as several executives and representatives of supporting companies and institutions.
This support comes in response to one of the essential components of the program, which is to equip government hospitals with modern hearing test devices that are integrated into the healthcare services provided to newborns, ensuring early detection of hearing impairment or loss, enhancing opportunities for timely therapeutic intervention, and reducing long-term linguistic and cognitive complications.
The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the "Think Palestine" Association, is working on developing and expanding the national screening program for newborns by providing the necessary devices and training medical staff to conduct the tests according to approved professional protocols, in addition to documenting results and directing identified cases to follow-up and advanced diagnostic and hearing rehabilitation pathways, which enhances the efficiency of the health system and the sustainability of its impact.
The program aims to increase the coverage rate of hearing screening for newborns and to reduce the average age for diagnosing congenital hearing loss to six months or less, in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization, which emphasizes that early detection and rapid intervention are foundational for protecting children's linguistic and cognitive abilities and ensuring their educational and social integration.
Mahmoud Al-Shawa, General Manager of Palestine Bank, confirmed that the bank's contribution to this program stems from a comprehensive developmental vision that prioritizes human health, stressing that investing in early detection is an investment in children's futures and their right to education and full integration into society. He added that this support helps alleviate health and economic burdens on Palestinian families and enhances children's opportunities for healthy growth and development.
Palestine Bank is one of the prominent supporting partners of the Palestinian health sector through its continuous contributions to national initiatives, donating medical equipment, and enhancing the quality of health services, especially in marginalized and remote areas, embodying its practical commitment to sustainable development and empowering the Palestinian community.
