Jordan Bank and the Ministry of Transport: A Digital Partnership to Serve Citizens

SadaNews - In a strategic move towards enhancing digital transformation, Jordan Bank signed a partnership and cooperation agreement with the Palestinian Ministry of Transport and Communications, aimed at developing services provided to citizens in traffic departments and offices.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of Jordan Bank branches in Palestine, Mr. Saif Issa, and the Minister of Transport and Communications, Engineer Tarek Za'tar, at the ministry's headquarters in Ramallah, in the presence of a team from the ministry and the bank.
Under the agreement, Jordan Bank will automate all services provided in traffic departments and offices across various Palestinian governorates, contributing to offering solutions that enhance electronic payment and collection through modern and secure payment methods.

As part of the first phase of the project, Jordan Bank will provide advanced self-service machines in the ministry's traffic departments and offices, at an estimated cost of about $1.5 million, to facilitate the completion of transactions more quickly and flexibly for citizens.

Issa stated that signing the partnership and cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Transport and Communications comes within Jordan Bank's commitment to support and enhance digital transformation in line with its approved strategy in this field, harmonizing with the ministry's plan to develop services provided to citizens, and in alignment with the strategy of the Palestine Monetary Authority in promoting digital transformation and electronic payment in the financial services provided by the banking sector.
He added that this digital partnership represents a qualitative leap in providing more efficient services to the Palestinian citizen, saving time and effort in completing their transactions.
He pointed out that Jordan Bank, in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Transport and Communications, has been working for about two years to equip all its offices located in traffic departments and offices with electronic payment machines (POS) to enhance the culture of using bank cards and provide advanced electronic payment systems to serve clients.

For his part, Minister Za'tar stated that this cooperation comes as part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications' trend towards reducing reliance on cash payments in shekels and transitioning to financial automation through modern and secure payment systems, enhancing transparency and contributing to expanding inclusiveness in providing services to all citizens.

He added that the ministry plans to expand the scope of this service in the next phase to include gathering areas and remote rural areas, facilitating citizens' access to services, especially under current conditions that hinder their access to traditional service centers through its employees.

It is worth mentioning that Jordan Bank is one of the first financial institutions to operate in Palestine after 1994, offering distinguished and advanced banking services, targeting a wide segment of Palestinian sectors, and contributing to supporting and developing the local economy.
