No One Asked Hamas to Surrender Its Weapons to Israel
In an attempt by a "fluctuating trend" within Fatah to ride the wave of resistance - which has been criminalized and labeled as treasonous in the West Bank - during a time of setback and decline, they are adjusting past statements that supported Hamas and its tide, while fabricating a "Don Quixote" battle with imaginary opponents, accusing anyone who demands Hamas to surrender its weapons to Israel of treason.
Such accusations would be valid if there were actually any Palestinian or Arab official, writer, or political analyst who called for that; even the sons of the sector who have been burned by Hamas's weapons, I haven’t heard any of them demand such a thing.
The discussion about the fate of Hamas's weapons began to circulate after Hamas signed the truce in January 2025, and then with its agreement and signature in Sharm El-Sheikh on Trump's initiative on October 13, 2025, which also calls for the disarmament of Hamas and not for handing its weapons over to Israel.
Initially, the talk was about handing over the weapons to the Palestinian Authority and its security apparatus. However, Israel refused to allow the Authority to return to the sector, as did Hamas. The conversation then shifted to handing over the weapons to an Arab and Islamic party, which Hamas also rejected. After that, the discussion arose about the entry of international forces into the sector to take charge of the issue in exchange for security guarantees for Hamas members and their families, which Hamas also rejected. Osama Hamdan stated that the movement would deal with any foreign forces entering the sector as it deals with Israel, and I do not know if he remains of that opinion after the entry of American and foreign forces affiliated with the American Peace Council.
My advice to Hamas inside is not to listen to the statements of their leaders abroad, nor to the statements and demands of the "fluctuating Fatah members" who want some of them to whitewash their records at the expense of the blood of the people of Gaza, and even the blood of the sons of Hamas inside; and to think in a rational and realistic way about how to dispose of whatever remains of their weapons to any entity other than Israel, because it is no longer resistance weapons or the weapons of the people, and it does not serve any interest for Palestine and for the Gaza Strip, but rather it will not be able to protect Hamas itself from the occupation or from the anger of the people of the sector. If they do not do that, Israel will use it to increase the suffering of the people of the sector and will complete with Washington what they plan for Gaza and the region, and the war on Iran will be their opportunity to achieve that, and they may turn into a mercenary group working in favor of Trump and his dubious Peace Council.
