In Response to Attack on Its Soldiers in Jordan.. Strong American Airstrikes on Iran

SadaNews - The U.S. military announced early Sunday morning that it has carried out new airstrikes in response to Iranian attacks against its forces in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers, marking the first time since hostilities with Tehran renewed.

The U.S. military stated that it concluded a wave of strikes in Iran, targeting coastal surveillance facilities, air defense systems belonging to the Iranian army, its naval capabilities, and missile and drone storage sites, "to continue undermining the military capabilities of the Iranian regime." It also attacked the Revolutionary Guard forces that carried out attacks against American troops in Jordan on July 17, as SadaNews translated.

A statement from U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" indicated that the airstrikes aim to "undermine Iran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to immediately punish the Revolutionary Guard forces for the attacks they launched against American service members in Jordan last night."

It clarified the end of the eighth consecutive wave of strikes on Iran, targeting military coastal surveillance facilities and air defense systems.

U.S. Central Command had announced on Saturday the deaths of two American service members and the loss of another due to Iranian strikes on Jordan amidst an exchange of attacks between Washington and Tehran.

"CENTCOM" reported on the X platform: "Two U.S. service members were killed in Jordan while performing their duties, during CENTCOM's response to attacks launched by Iran using ballistic missiles and drones."

It added: "One service member is still missing."

Iran launched further attacks on Gulf countries and Jordan yesterday, while Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei threatened in a written message to teach the United States "unforgettable lessons," asserting that U.S. President Donald Trump's signature is "worthless and null."

It is worth mentioning that the temporary agreement reached last month to end the war collapsed since July 7, when Tehran targeted ships in the Strait of Hormuz, while the United States responded with airstrikes on Iran.

Since then, Tehran has announced the closure of the Strait, while Washington has resumed enforcing its blockade on Iranian ports.
