Launch of the Fifth Round of Negotiations Between Lebanon and Israel

SadaNews - This evening, Tuesday, the fifth round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, sponsored by the United States, has commenced.

The Lebanese and Israeli delegations from both political and military levels have arrived at the U.S. Department of State in Washington.

There will be a political meeting separately, and another for military officials from both sides at the same department. According to matching Israeli and Lebanese sources.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that the developments of the past few days have proven the correctness of our choice to go to negotiations since it is the only globally recognized way to achieve national objectives and restore all rights.

He added in a press statement, "We are entering a new round that we hope will be decisive in achieving the good we desire for our country and our people."

He continued, "We will accept nothing less than the removal of Israeli occupation from southern Lebanon and the end of foreign guardianship together because our only option is our national sovereignty."

The United States hopes to succeed in its efforts to bring both sides to an agreement, considering its implications on the agreement with Iran.

Iran has insisted on a complete ceasefire in Lebanon and the withdrawal of Israel from it.

Tel Aviv seeks to achieve an agreement with Lebanon without being forced to make decisions under U.S. pressure within the framework of the understanding of the Donald Trump administration with the Iranian regime.
