"Experimental Project" Between Israel and Lebanon for Handing Over Land to the Lebanese Army
SadaNews: Israel and Lebanon are discussing an experimental project to hand over some southern lands to the Lebanese army, according to Israeli officials on Wednesday.
Three Israeli officials stated that Israel and Lebanon are examining a U.S.-backed experimental project, under which Israeli forces would relinquish control of some territories in southern Lebanon to the Lebanese forces.
The officials added that the participating Lebanese forces would undergo training and review by the U.S. side to ensure they have no ties to the Hezbollah group.
The three officials pointed out that Israel would maintain a military presence in the buffer zone.
