Trump Accuses Senate of Undermining His Position Against Iran

SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump attacked the Senate, accusing several of its members of undermining his administration's position toward Iran after the Senate voted in favor of a resolution calling for the end of U.S. military operations against Tehran.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social that Iran "is in a precarious position, on the verge of collapse, and is willing to offer almost anything," adding that it "shows great respect for the United States and its president."

He regarded the Senate's vote on the War Powers Act as coming "at a bad time and is useless," adding that the resolution sent a message to Iran that the United States does not support its policies, which he considered "providing assistance and support to the enemy."

He also criticized four Republican members who voted alongside the Democrats, considering their position complicates his task, but he affirmed that he "will get it done, one way or another."

The U.S. Senate had voted on Tuesday by a majority of 50 votes to 48 in favor of a resolution calling for the end of U.S. military operations against Iran, after the House of Representatives had approved it earlier.

Although the resolution does not carry a binding legal effect, it represents the first position taken by Congress regarding war powers related to the conflict with Iran, reflecting increasing concerns within the legislative body, including among some Republicans, regarding the ongoing U.S. military engagement, at a time when the Trump administration continues negotiations with Tehran about the Iranian nuclear program and other issues.
