Israeli Officer Reveals Exciting Details About the Assassination of Hassan Nasrallah and Leaders from His Party and Hamas
Translation by SadaNews - The commander of the special unit in the Israeli Air Force, which plans and executes all operations in the Middle East, revealed new details about the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, the former Secretary General of Hezbollah, who was assassinated on September 27, 2024.
This unit, led by the officer referred to by the letter "S", is responsible for tens of thousands of airstrikes in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, and of course Iran.
The unit receives intelligence on targets, gathers raw materials, and formulates operational plans for attacks, regarding the number of aircraft and types of weapons, how to ensure concentrated damage, and how to target a human objective in an underground shelter without allowing them to flee at the last moment or even during the attack.
"S" said in an interview with Maariv newspaper that since the end of the Second Lebanon War in August 2006 until the "New Order" operation that eliminated Hassan Nasrallah, it was clear to every Israeli and perhaps to many around the world that the Hezbollah leader was hiding in an underground bunker... all of us were told that for years, the Hezbollah leader did not dare to appear publicly but rather recorded his speeches in advance to be shown to his supporters.
He added: We had tracked Nasrallah for a long time, and we knew his apartments, his wife’s house, emergency rooms, and the places where he hid, but the truth is that most of the time he was not hiding in a bunker... there were times he lived in an upscale apartment on the eighth floor of a residential building in the southern suburb, and in cases where he needed to hide, he used a special elevator that was installed specifically for him.
He continued: He might have been theoretically living in a bunker, but practically he was not underground all the time... operationally, it did not matter to us which shelter he entered; we would have killed him... we had suitable attack plans for every building and every shelter.
Regarding the attack itself, he said: The Hezbollah leader had better places to take refuge that day, but he preferred to resort to the shelter where we killed him... it was a deep underground bunker located beneath a multi-story residential building... the attack took a few seconds... the aircraft fired missiles aimed at trapping those in the bunker and preventing them from escaping.
He noted that 83 bombs were dropped on the location, the same amount used to kill his successor Hashim Safi al-Din.
He added: Before the attack, I asked the commander of the rescue unit of the Home Front Command how long it would take his men to reach a destruction site like Nasrallah's hideout, and he told me he could rescue the trapped individuals within six hours... I realized then that Lebanon's capabilities were lower, and I had to prevent anyone from approaching the destruction site and trying to rescue survivors for 12 hours; we wanted to ensure Nasrallah was dead, whether from the direct strike or from bleeding out or asphyxiation due to lack of oxygen.
He mentioned that the attack that evening did not only target the shelter but also included the entire residential building above it.
He said: After the attack, we saw a motorcycle coming, and its riders tried to enter through a nearby tunnel; shortly thereafter, they brought a bulldozer to dig through the rubble, so we attacked it... after a while, a second bulldozer arrived, and we attacked and destroyed it too, but the third bulldozer never arrived.
Prior to Nasrallah's assassination, another operation targeted Fouad Shukr, the chief of staff of Hezbollah.
Officer "S" said, based on the images we received, his mistress looked very beautiful, and he had a long relationship with her... we knew when he came to her and how much time he spent with her, and this relationship lasted for many years, and we were always informed... he was a pivotal figure in Hezbollah, and we knew that eliminating him would have a resounding impact within the organization, and we decided to attack his mistress's apartment upon his arrival... the attack was precise and powerful, and they were both eliminated immediately.
The officer revealed several details related to the assassination of leaders in Hezbollah, as well as Hamas.
He spoke about the assassination of the commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed al-Sinwar, along with leader Mohammed Shubaneh in a tunnel in Khan Younis in May 2025.
"S" said, as translated by SadaNews, they met in a tunnel beneath the European hospital, which extends through the hospital from west to east, and contains a command center; they met in a room underground about 10 to 20 meters from the emergency room of the hospital.
He noted that there were pre-planned operations to attack the tunnel, but after intelligence reports about the meeting came in, the operation was prepared within minutes and executed with extreme precision to ensure they were killed without allowing them to exit the tunnel, dying either due to the explosions or lack of oxygen.
He stated that in less than twenty seconds from the start of the attack, the target was destroyed with utmost precision, and Hamas attempted to send a bulldozer to the site to rescue its top officials trapped in the tunnel, but another aircraft intervened and destroyed the bulldozer, while at the same time, forces from the Golani Brigade rapidly advanced towards the hospital area and took control of it, preventing Hamas from retrieving the bodies of the senior officials.
