Israeli Occupation Army: 5 Soldiers Killed and 13 Others Wounded in Two Days

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation army announced over the weekend that 5 soldiers were killed and 13 others were injured in various incidents in southern Lebanon during two days following the declaration of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

The occupation army announced on Saturday that the five soldiers were killed in two separate incidents in southern Lebanon, according to the Jerusalem Post newspaper.

Names of 4 soldiers have been released so far, including: Major Dor Gdalia Ben Shimon (32 years old), First Sergeant Yoav Klein (21 years old), First Sergeant Liav Kababia (20 years old), and soldier Nir Ben Ari (21 years old), all from the Maglan Unit of the Commando Brigade.

According to the Israeli newspaper, on Friday, a shell fired by a tank belonging to the 52nd Battalion of the Givati Brigade, which was operating in the village of Tabnit, hit the area.

Killed in this incident were First Sergeant Klein, First Sergeant Kababia, Major Dor Gdalia Ben Simon, along with another soldier whose name has not yet been disclosed.

Later, Hezbollah attacked the Israeli army positions in the Lebanese buffer zone at night. It is believed that First Sergeant Ben Ari is the only soldier killed in the assaults, while 13 other soldiers were injured.

The newspaper quoted the Israeli army as saying that Hezbollah launched over 50 shells at the soldiers during the nighttime attacks, which constituted a "flagrant violation of the ceasefire."

The Israeli army responded to the attacks by launching airstrikes on several Hezbollah sites and positions in southern Lebanon, including rocket launch sites, weapon storage facilities, and command centers. Later on Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the Israeli army to cease fire until further notice.

The army affirmed its commitment to the ceasefire, stressing that it would work to "remove any threat facing the state of Israel and its soldiers."
