The President's Special Representative and the Governor of the Palestinian Monetary Authority Confirm Their Support for Nablus Municipality in Facing Economic and Service Challenges

SadaNews - Nablus Mayor Anan Al-Atira received a delegation that included a member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement and the President's Special Representative Yasir Mahmoud Abbas, along with the Governor of the Palestinian Monetary Authority Yahya Shan'ar, in addition to several members of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah Movement, and representatives from national events and organizational areas in Nablus.

Al-Atira welcomed the visiting delegation, emphasizing that the strength of the Palestinian people lies in their unity and solidarity, and their national cohesion stretching from one end of the homeland to the other. She noted that this national spirit forms the real support in facing the political and economic challenges that our people are going through.

She stated that the message carried by this visit confirms that the Palestinian people, despite all the difficult circumstances, will remain committed to their national rights and steadfast on their land until they achieve freedom and independence, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Atira affirmed that the Nablus Municipality continues to perform its national and service role despite the difficult economic crisis it is suffering from, like many Palestinian institutions. She pointed out that the municipality's mission is not limited to providing basic services but also works on developing infrastructure and enhancing the level of services to meet the needs of the Palestinian citizen and bolster their resilience.

She added that the municipal council adopts a policy of openness and partnership with various components of society, and that the municipality today is closer to the citizens and more expressive of their concerns and aspirations, in a framework based on communication, joint work, and serving the public interest.

For his part, Yasir Mahmoud Abbas praised the performance of the municipal council since taking over its duties, appreciating the efforts made to serve citizens and develop the city despite ongoing challenges.

He highlighted the importance of the role played by municipalities in strengthening the steadfastness of citizens and improving the reality of Palestinian cities and towns, especially in light of the difficult political and economic conditions faced by our people.

Abbas indicated that the financial crisis facing the Palestinian Authority reflects on various national institutions, which requires the integration of efforts between local bodies and state institutions to ensure the continuity of services and enhance the citizens' ability to withstand.

For his part, the Governor of the Monetary Authority praised the performance of the municipal council and the steps taken since the beginning of his work, asserting that the Palestinian economy faces significant challenges due to ongoing Israeli measures, primarily the crisis of shekel accumulation and restrictions imposed on the banking sector and clearance revenues.

He explained that the occupation uses economic and financial tools to pressure the Palestinian people and their institutions, calling for patience and steadfastness during this difficult phase, while affirming his confidence in the ability of the Palestinian people and their national institutions to overcome current challenges.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation and integration between national institutions and local bodies, and supporting Nablus Municipality in its efforts to develop services and strengthen citizens' resilience in facing the prevailing political and economic challenges.
