America and Iran Approaching Agreement.. Pakistan Emerges as Candidate to Host New Round of Negotiations

SadaNews - On the 86th day of the outbreak of the American-Israeli war against Iran, political and diplomatic indicators have intensified around the nearing agreement between Washington and Tehran, with increasing discussions about ending military escalation in the region.

Axios reported details about the expected agreement, which includes a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, along with reopening the Strait of Hormuz during this period, with Iran committing to remove mines previously planted in the vital waterway.

In this context, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his country is working to finalize the details of an agreement with Iran, indicating that an announcement could be imminent, should a final understanding be reached between the two sides.

For its part, the New York Times revealed that the American proposal requires Tehran to relinquish its stockpile of enriched uranium, while quoting Iranian sources that the anticipated understanding could put an end to fighting on various fronts, with a focus on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and lifting imposed maritime restrictions.

In a related development, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif congratulated President Trump on his efforts to advance the peace process, noting that recent discussions helped exchange viewpoints and enhance chances for de-escalation, with the expectation of hosting a new round of talks soon in Pakistan.

Trump also made phone calls to several regional leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan, as part of coordinating diplomatic efforts regarding the Iranian file.

In response, an Iranian official confirmed the reaching of a memorandum of understanding via the Pakistani mediator, awaiting the American response, explaining that this memorandum does not currently include the nuclear file due to its complexities, and that it will be discussed in a later stage of the negotiations.
