Sony Launches Wearable Air Conditioner for the Neck
SadaNews - Sony has unveiled the new generation of its wearable cooling device, the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, continuing its development of the personal cooling category that it has been working on since 2019.
The new device comes with significant improvements in performance and design, offering higher cooling power and a more comfortable user experience, targeting users seeking a personal solution to cope with heat while commuting or working.
A Small Air Conditioner Worn Behind the Neck
The Sony Reon Pocket Pro Plus functions as a personal thermal regulation unit that is attached behind the neck, providing direct cooling or heating to the body through an integrated thermal panel, according to a report published by the "gizmochina" website that "Al Arabiya Business" reviewed.
According to Sony, the new version offers a 20% improvement in cooling performance compared to the previous generation, and the cooling panel can lower the temperature by an additional two degrees Celsius, providing a more intense cooling sensation while walking or outdoor use.
A More Stable and Comfortable Design
Sony has made design adjustments to enhance stability during movement, adding an elastic strap that wraps around the neck and shoulders to prevent device movement while walking or bending.
The hot air outlet has also become adjustable, allowing the angle to be changed or extended to prevent hot air from being trapped inside high collars or under heavy clothing.
Artificial Intelligence and Thermal Sensors
The device relies on two thermal cooling units combined with a set of sensors to continuously monitor skin temperature.
Through the accompanying app, users can set their target temperature, while intelligent operating modes automatically adjust the level of cooling or heating according to the surrounding environment.
Users who prefer not to rely on their phones can directly control the device via physical buttons located on its side to switch between cooling and heating modes.
Battery Lasting Up to 15 Hours
Sony confirmed that the battery offers up to 15 hours of use in smart cooling mode, with quiet operation that allows for use in offices or indoor spaces without disturbance.
The company also revealed an additional accessory called the Reon Pocket Tag 2, a small sensor that can be attached to bags or clothing to measure surrounding temperature and humidity and send data to the device to enhance thermal control accuracy.
Price and Availability
The Reon Pocket Pro Plus device will be exclusively available through the "Sony" online store in the United States in the summer of 2026.
The device is priced at around 229 euros in Europe and 199 pounds sterling in the UK, while the company has yet to disclose the official price in the US market.
In a separate context, Sony recently announced the new Sony Bravia 3 II television, which comes with AI-supported enhancements, 4K gaming support at 120Hz, and sizes up to 100 inches.
