Amjad Al-Shallah to SadaNews: "The upcoming revolutionary council must be a council of action and accountability, not names and slogans"

SadaNews - The Secretary of the Bar Association and Deputy Mayor of Birzeit, Amjad Al-Shallah, stated in a statement to SadaNews that "the revolutionary council awaited by the movement, its cadres, and its organizational bases today is not a council for statements, slogans, and loud speeches, nor a platform for personal propaganda or boasting about titles and positions, and it is not a gateway to achieve personal gains or improve job positions or recycle the same faces and existing approach."

He added: "The movement today needs a true revolutionary council… a council that has the courage to hold accountable, the ability to make decisions, complete alignment with the concerns and national and living issues of the people, and to defend the dignity and rights of the movement's members. What is needed is a council that makes a difference and leaves an impact, not a council that is satisfied with talking about itself and its name."

He continued: "Whoever thinks that the upcoming revolutionary council will merely be a platform for speeches or a façade for media beautification does not realize the magnitude of the crisis facing the movement or the nature of the critical phase we are going through. The required council today is a council of stance, oversight, and accountability, restoring the movement's prestige, regaining the trust of the organizational base, and expressing its true will, not narrow interests or personal calculations."

He further stated: "The sensitivity and difficulty of the phase are no longer hidden from anyone, and the challenges facing the movement have become greater than ever before. Therefore, the great rush to run for membership in the revolutionary council requires a responsible pause and a sincere self-review, for organizational positions have never been symbols of honor or prestige, but have always been positions of duty, responsibility, and struggle. Everyone seeking membership in the revolutionary council must realize that they are embarking on a heavy national and organizational mission, which requires presence, stance, action, and sacrifice, not just a title added to their name or a photo taken at events."

He concluded: "As a cadre within this great movement, we will not accept that membership in the revolutionary council becomes a personal privilege or an individual gain or a case of empty organizational boasting."

He finished: "The upcoming council must be a council of decision, accountability, and action, not a council of names."
