Pakistan Denies Presence of Iranian Aircraft at Nur Khan Air Base
SadaNews - The Pakistani Foreign Ministry issued a statement categorically denying a report by CBS News regarding the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Air Base.
It stressed that these narratives are "based on speculation" and aim to undermine efforts to achieve regional stability and peace.
The statement clarified that the Iranian aircraft currently present in Pakistan arrived during the ceasefire period, emphasizing that Pakistan rejects any attempts to cast doubt on its role in supporting regional security.
Nur Khan Air Base (PAF Base Nur Khan), formerly known as Chaklala Base, is one of the most important and prominent military facilities of the Pakistan Air Force. The base is located in the Chaklala area of Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, and possesses a strategic location that has made it a vital center for military and diplomatic logistics and air transport operations in the country.
The base was originally established in 1935 under the name "RAF Chaklala" during British rule and was used during World War II as a parachute training center. After Pakistan's independence, it was transferred to the Pakistan Air Force, and in 2012, it was officially renamed Nur Khan Base in honor of Air Marshal Nur Khan, who was the Chief of Air Staff and a national hero known as the "Iron Man." The base currently hosts several important squadrons, including Squadron No. 6 (the Deer) specializing in heavy transport and Squadron No. 10 specializing in air-to-air refueling, making it the heart of strategic air movements.
