Egypt's emerging "Egrobots" reveals the first autonomous agricultural harvesting robot

SadaNews - Egrobots, a company specializing in deep tech solutions and smart robotics, announced the launch of the first fully developed autonomous agricultural harvesting robot by Egyptian hands.

This step reflects the evolution of Egyptian companies' capabilities in the fields of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and deep tech.

The new robot represents a qualitative leap in the concept of agricultural automation and smart farms, as it was developed based on computer vision technologies, artificial intelligence, and autonomous movement systems, enabling it to identify ripe fruits, determine the best movement paths within farms, and execute harvesting operations efficiently and accurately without direct human intervention.

This innovation comes within a rapidly accelerating global trend towards building systems for Autonomous Agriculture, which rely on data analysis and real-time decision-making during operation to enhance agricultural productivity, reduce waste, and improve the quality of operational processes within farms, according to a press release from the company, a copy of which was obtained by "Al Arabiya Business".

The robot features a flexible and scalable design, allowing it to be equipped with up to four robotic arms operating simultaneously, achieving productivity of about 160 kilograms per hour, in addition to its ability to work continuously for 24 hours with stable efficiency, which helps address the challenges of seasonal labor shortages and rising operational costs in the agricultural sector.

The project is viewed as a new model of the capability of emerging Egyptian companies to transition from employing artificial intelligence technologies to developing integrated Deep Tech solutions designed and built locally to serve vital sectors such as agriculture and industry.

Engineer Akhlad Al-Abhar, co-founder and CEO of the company, stated that the launch of this robot represents an important step towards a future where smart systems become an integral part of the agricultural infrastructure in the region, reflecting the capabilities of Egyptian talents to develop globally competitive Deep Tech solutions.

He added that the company aims, through this innovation, to support the digital transformation in the agricultural sector and open new horizons for using artificial intelligence and robotics in enhancing sustainability and improving agricultural productivity in Egypt and the Arab region.

"Egrobots" was established as an Egyptian company specializing in developing robots based on what is known as Physical AI and autonomous systems, and it comprises a team with over 50 years of experience in robotics, artificial intelligence, and industrial systems.

The company has previously implemented several practical models on the ground, including the development of a traffic robot in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Interior. Additionally, it is among the graduates of Google for Startups programs and a member of the NVIDIA Inception program, enhancing its presence within the global innovation ecosystem in the fields of artificial intelligence and deep technology.

The company is currently working on developing advanced solutions in humanoid robotics, alongside technologies targeted at manufacturing and industrial production sectors, as part of an initiative aimed at supporting the future of automation and digital transformation in the region in line with the goals of Vision 2030.
