North Korean Leader Inspects Artillery Capable of Striking Seoul
SadaNews - The North Korean Central News Agency reported today, Friday, that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected the production of new artillery with a range exceeding 60 kilometers, which will be deployed at the Korean southern border to enhance the capability to strike Seoul and other targets.
The agency quoted Kim as saying that the extended range of the new 155mm self-propelled howitzer "will ensure a significant change and advantage in the ground operations of our army."
North Korea has been developing strategic weapons for decades, including long-range ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads and reaching the U.S. mainland. In recent years, it has also expanded its conventional arsenal.
Officials and experts from South Korea stated that North Korea's provision of missiles and artillery to Russia, in support of Moscow's war against Ukraine, has provided it with valuable field data regarding its weaponry. The agency also reported that Kim separately supervised tests related to the naval maneuvering capabilities of one of the modern destroyers being tested in preparation for deployment.
