Trump: Israel is a great ally for us whether people love it or not

SadaNews - President Donald Trump defended Israel, describing it as a great ally of the United States.

Trump wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "Whether people love Israel or not, it has proven to be a great ally of the United States."

The American president continued: "They are brave, bold, loyal, and smart. Unlike others who have revealed their true nature in times of conflict and tension, Israel fights fiercely and knows how to win."

Trump's post came at a time when the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz is escalating, amidst possibilities that the United States and Israel may resume their war against Iran.

The United States has tightened its grip to block Iranian ports in recent days, following the failure of the first round of negotiations between the two sides in Islamabad.

Iran announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping on Friday, but closed it again on Saturday, demanding that the United States lift the maritime blockade against it.

In a related context, a senior U.S. official warned of the possibility of resuming the war against Iran in the coming days if there is no progress in negotiations between Washington and Tehran soon.

Israel has also entered a state of maximum alert and has established a "target bank", in anticipation of the possibility of renewed war against Iran if negotiations collapse, according to a report by the newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth".

The chief Iranian negotiator, Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqer Qalibaf, spoke about "making progress" in negotiations with the United States, but emphasized that the two sides are far from a final agreement.
