Israeli Supreme Court Begins Hearing on Dismissal of Ben Gvir
SadaNews - The Israeli Supreme Court began hearings today, Wednesday, on petitions calling for the dismissal of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir from his position, in front of an expanded panel of 9 judges.
The first session witnessed significant tension, as Supreme Court President Isaac Amit ordered the removal of Deputy Minister Almog Cohen from the "Jewish Power" party from the courtroom.
The decision to remove him came after Cohen shouted at the court president, saying: "You are the corrupt one here. Sign the conflict of interest declaration," referring to his demand that the judges sign such declarations, which angered the court president who immediately ordered his removal.
These developments come amid heightened legal and political sensitivity, alongside widespread debate regarding the legitimacy of Ben Gvir remaining in his position.
