North Korean Leader Supports China's Efforts Towards a 'Multipolar World'

SadaNews - Official media reported today, Saturday, that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un expressed his support for China's efforts to build a "multipolar world" and called for deeper ties between the two traditional allies during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

During the meeting held on Friday, Kim stated that his government would fully support Chinese efforts to achieve territorial unity based on the "One China Principle," referring to Beijing's official stance that Taiwan is an integral part of China's territory, according to the official Korean Central News Agency.

The Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim also clarified North Korea's position on regional and international issues of "mutual interest," stating that the continued development of relations between the two countries has become more important in the current geopolitical environment.

Wang, who is on a two-day visit to North Korea, mentioned that the relations between the two countries are entering a "new phase" following last year's summit between Kim and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

With the adoption of ideas of a "new Cold War" and a "multipolar world," Kim has sought to break free from international isolation and push for a more assertive foreign policy by expanding relations with governments that are in confrontation with the United States.
