How Many Victims Have Resulted from the War on Iran Until the Ceasefire?
SadaNews - US President Donald Trump approved a two-week ceasefire with Iran on Tuesday, less than two hours before the deadline he set for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating attacks on its civilian infrastructure. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel supported the decision to suspend strikes on Iran, adding that the ceasefire does not include Lebanon.
Below is the tally of war victims as of today, Wednesday:
Iran
The US-based human rights activist news agency, "HRANA," reported that 3,636 people have been killed since the war broke out, including 1,701 civilians, of whom at least 254 were children.
The agency stated that it collects its data from field reports, local and medical sources, relief organizations, materials from open sources, and official data.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies reported that at least 1,900 civilians have been killed, and 20,000 have been injured in US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
It is unclear whether these numbers include at least 104 individuals that the Iranian army said were killed after a US submarine sank an Iranian warship off the coast of Sri Lanka on March 4.
Lebanon
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that Israeli strikes continued in the southern part of the country, including artillery shelling and an airstrike at dawn on a building near a hospital, resulting in the death of 4 people.
Lebanese authorities previously stated that 1,530 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes since March 2, including at least 129 children.
Two informed sources told Reuters that over 400 Hezbollah militants have been killed since the party launched attacks on Israel on March 2. It remains unclear whether the death toll announced by the authorities includes fighters.
In related news, the Lebanese army reported that at least 10 soldiers have been killed since March 2 in Israeli strikes on the country, most of them in the south.
Three Indonesian UN peacekeepers were also killed in separate incidents in southern Lebanon, one in a roadside explosion and the other by shelling.
Iraq
Iraqi health authorities reported that at least 117 people have been killed since the start of the war. Among them are civilians, Popular Mobilization Forces members, army soldiers, police officers, and fighters from the Kurdish Peshmerga allied with the United States.
Security officials at one of Iraq's ports reported that a foreign crew member was killed in an attack targeting tankers near the port.
Israel
The Israeli Red Star of David reported that 23 people were killed due to rocket fire from Iran and Lebanon. The army said that 11 of its soldiers were killed in southern Lebanon.
In another incident, Israeli forces mistakenly killed an Israeli farmer near the border with Lebanon on March 22.
The United States
US Central Command announced that 13 military personnel were killed and more than 300 others were injured.
The US military confirmed that 6 of them died after a US military refueling plane crashed in Iraq, while 7 others were killed during combat operations against Iran.
The United Arab Emirates
Emirati authorities reported that 12 people were killed in Iranian attacks, including two military personnel. The most recent casualties occurred when debris from an intercepted attack fell on gas facilities in Habshan, Abu Dhabi.
Qatar
The Ministry of Defense stated that 7 people were killed on March 22 when a helicopter crashed in Qatari territorial waters due to a technical failure during a routine mission. The ministry did not provide any further details.
Among the deceased, 4 were members of the Qatari armed forces, one was Turkish from the Qatari-Turkish joint forces, and two were technicians working for the Turkish defense industry company "Aselsan."
Kuwait
Kuwaiti authorities reported that 7 people were killed, including 3 in Iranian attacks, 2 from the Ministry of Interior, and 2 from the armed forces.
The West Bank
The Palestinian Authority announced the killing of 4 Palestinian women in an Iranian rocket attack in the occupied West Bank.
Syria
The Syrian Arab News Agency reported that 4 people were killed when an Iranian rocket struck a building in the city of Sweida, in the south of the country, on February 28.
Bahrain
The Ministry of Interior reported that two people were killed in separate Iranian attacks, the latest of which was on a residential building in Manama.
The UAE Ministry of Defense reported on March 24 that a civilian contractor was killed in an Iranian attack on Bahrain, identifying him as of Moroccan nationality.
Oman
The Sultanate announced the deaths of two people in a drone attack on an industrial area in Sohar on March 13.
The operator of one of the tankers stated that a person died earlier after a shell struck the tanker off the coast of Muscat.
Saudi Arabia
Two people were killed when a shell fell on a residential area in the city of Al-Kharj, southeast of the capital Riyadh.
France
A French soldier was killed and 6 others were injured in a drone attack in northern Iraq.
