People's Party Submits Its Observations on the Temporary Constitution of the State of Palestine

SadaNews - A delegation from the Palestinian People’s Party handed over its observations and proposals to amend the articles of the temporary constitution that were published to Dr. Mohamed Al-Haj Qasem, the head of the drafting committee for the temporary constitution of the State of Palestine, yesterday morning, "Monday".

The Palestinian People’s Party emphasized the necessity of expanding the discussion around the constitution to encompass broad sectors of our people politically and socially.

The party also confirmed in its observations the adoption of the reservations documented by the party's Secretary General Basam Al-Salhi, a member of the constitution committee, regarding the draft constitution, which are with the committee. It also added to them the amendments received from members and bodies of the party, from the progressive labor bloc, the women’s working committee, and other popular and civil frameworks of the party.

The party highlighted in its observations the necessity of changing the form of the political system from a semi-presidential system to a full parliamentary system, and called for a direct referendum on this matter. It also called for changing the economic system in place and proposed, which is the mixed economic system, to a pluralistic economic system that expands the cooperative and community sector, enhancing a social economy that supports resilience and liberation from economic dependence and occupation.

The party is scheduled to launch a campaign aimed at changing the form of the political and economic system in the proposed Palestinian constitution and to cooperate with forces and frameworks and campaigns that agree with this direction and with other observations raised on the constitution.

The party's observations on the constitution were handed over to the head of the drafting committee, comrade Khawla Aliyan, a member of the central committee of the party and head of the delegation, in the presence of comrade Basam Al-Salhi, the party’s Secretary General and a member of the constitution drafting committee.
