Riyadh Hosts Arab Islamic Ministerial Meeting to Discuss Regional Security

SadaNews - The Saudi capital, Riyadh, will host an advisory ministerial meeting for the foreign ministers of a group of Arab and Islamic countries this evening, Wednesday, aimed at further consultation and coordination regarding ways to support the security and stability of the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host, in the capital Riyadh, this evening, Wednesday, 29 Ramadan 1447 AH, corresponding to March 18, 2026, an advisory ministerial meeting for the foreign ministers of a group of Arab and Islamic countries aimed at further consultation and coordination regarding ways to support the security and stability of the region.

The meeting comes in the context of rapid regional and international movements to contain the repercussions of the escalation that has been ongoing since the outbreak of war on February 28, as Iran continues its missile and drone attacks on several countries in the region.

The United Nations Security Council adopted on March 11 resolution No. 2817, which condemned the Iranian attacks in the strongest terms, deeming them a violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.

The resolution, which was supported by 136 countries, affirmed the right of affected states to self-defense, individually or collectively, under Article 51 of the UN Charter, calling on Tehran to immediately cease all of its attacks.
