Saudi Defense Minister: We Hope Iran Will Avoid Miscalculations

SadaNews - Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman emphasized the necessity for Iran to steer clear of miscalculations, while hoping that Tehran prioritizes the voice of wisdom and reason, and ceases its Iranian aggressions that do not contribute to the security and stability of the region.

Prince Khalid bin Salman’s remarks come amid a moment of heightened security experienced by countries in the region due to Iranian attacks that have targeted Gulf capitals, as part of Iran's response options against American-Israeli strikes.

In recent days, Saudi defenses thwarted Iranian aggressions as they attacked oil and military facilities with dozens of missiles and drones, while Saudi defensive systems promptly intercepted them without any damage.

Saudi Arabia confirms that Iran's repeated blatant behavior towards countries in the region reveals a hostile approach that cannot be justified under any circumstances, which directly contradicts international laws, norms, and principles of good neighborliness, and pushes the region towards further escalation.

Moreover, the escalating war in Iran enters its second week today, Saturday, and two American officials told the Associated Press (AP) on Friday that an American drone defense system, which has proven effective against Russian drones in Ukraine, will soon be sent to the Middle East to bolster American defenses against Iranian drones.

In this context, while the United States uses Patriot and THAAD missile systems to successfully intercept Iranian missiles, there currently remain defenses with limited effectiveness against drones in the Middle East, according to an American defense official, who was one of the officials speaking on condition of anonymity.
