The Central Elections Commission Announces the Closure of Candidacy for the 2026 Local Elections
SadaNews - The Central Elections Commission closed the candidacy for the 2026 local elections today at 2 PM, according to prior announcements.
The Commission clarified that it closed the doors of its electoral offices where applications are submitted in all governorates of the West Bank and the city of Deir al-Balah, while continuing to accept applications from candidates who were present within its premises and arrived before 2 PM.
The Commission confirmed that it will notify all lists and candidates whose applications need correction tomorrow, Tuesday, to amend their requests, where they can correct their situations until 2 PM on the upcoming Friday at the latest. The Commission added that anyone who submitted their application via WhatsApp must complete their paperwork and submit it to the Commission by Friday as well.
The Commission stated that in the coming days it will announce the number of lists and candidates, as well as the number of local bodies in which elections will be held according to the outcomes of the candidacy phase.
It added that it will publish the preliminary list of candidates on its website next Saturday, March 7, at the headquarters of local bodies and the offices of electoral districts to allow citizens to review and submit objections if they wish.
