Russian Regulator Demanded Telegram to Remove 35,600 Harmful Content Since the Start of the Year
SadaNews - The Russian Federal Communications Supervisory Authority "Roskomnadzor" announced that it has demanded Telegram to remove 305,000 harmful content during 2025, and 35,600 since the beginning of 2026.
The authority stated in a press release: "Based on court decisions and authorized bodies, requests were directed to the Telegram application during the year 2025 to remove approximately 305,000 harmful content, and since the beginning of 2026 more than 35,600. "
Since the beginning of the year, the authority requested Telegram to remove 10,700 units of content related to child exploitation in pornography, 13,800 related to circumvention means, 1,400 units of content promoting suicide, and 9,700 supporting drug-related content.
The least number of requests were directed concerning materials promoting the refusal of childbirth - 3 requests, and regarding materials related to explosives and weapons - 3 requests, and information related to a minor harmed by illegal activities - 1 request.
