40,000 Worshippers Perform Isha and Taraweeh Prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque
SadaNews - About 40,000 worshippers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers this evening, Tuesday, in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, in a spiritual and faith-filled atmosphere, despite the restrictions imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities on access to the mosque.
The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that tens of thousands of worshippers have flocked to Al-Aqsa Mosque since the evening hours, performing the Isha and Taraweeh prayers in its courtyards and covered prayer halls, reflecting the steadfastness of our people in their right to pray in the first of the two Qiblas and the third holiest mosque.
Occupation forces were deployed around the Old City and its gates, checking the identities of several young men and obstructing some citizens from reaching the mosque, while the courtyards of Al-Aqsa witnessed a wide presence of families, the elderly, and those who are steadfast in the mosque.
Worshippers confirmed to "Wafa" that performing prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan carries a special significance, embodying the deep religious and national connection to the place, despite the measures and restrictions imposed.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, the Al-Aqsa Mosque witnesses the arrival of large numbers of worshippers from the city of Jerusalem and the lands of 1948, amid ongoing restrictions on the entry of worshippers from the governorates of the West Bank.
