Israel Threatens Lebanon Amid Conflicting Hezbollah Positions on Iran

SadaNews: The Reuters news agency reported that Israeli officials threatened to target Lebanese infrastructure if Hezbollah participated in any potential confrontation between the United States and Iran. In this context, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expressed his concern over the "contradictory statements" of the party, emphasizing that Lebanon is unable to control the course of American-Iranian relations, and urging the party to avoid a "new adventure" similar to that which occurred in Gaza. Salam affirmed that the decision to restrict arms to the state remains linked to regional and international factors, expressing optimism about American-French-Saudi support at the upcoming army support conference in Paris next month. For his part, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naeem Qassem stressed that any threat directed at Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is considered a threat to the entire resistance axis, asserting that the party "will not remain neutral" if Iran faces an American or Israeli attack. Qassem warned that a war on Iran could ignite the region, accusing its adversaries of attempting to bring it down from within through economic pressure and inciting unrest. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump continued his escalation, announcing the deployment of a "massive military force" towards Iran, while Tehran responded by stating that it would consider any attack an existential threat. Russia, through Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, warned that any attack on Iran would lead to a "serious destabilization of the region," calling on all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to peaceful negotiations.
