Prime Minister Discusses Updates on Relief and Recovery with UNDP Director

SadaNews - Today, Tuesday, Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa met in his office in Ramallah with the Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Alexander de Croo. They discussed the latest developments in the relief and recovery operations in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem, as well as joint coordination and prioritization to maximize the use of available resources amidst the ongoing difficult humanitarian conditions faced by our people in the sector, in the presence of the Ministers of Public Works and Housing, Ahed Bseiso, and Finance and Planning, Stefan Salama.

The Prime Minister emphasized the priority of removing rubble and providing temporary housing, alongside the continuation of relief efforts and the provision of assistance to the residents of the sector, as well as development programs in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, particularly the reconstruction of what was destroyed by the occupation’s aggression in the northern West Bank governorates.

Mustafa affirmed that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the State of Palestine, under one system, authority, weapon, and law, and that the government will continue to fulfill its duties towards our people in the sector by providing essential services such as health, education, and water.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of partnership with international institutions, including the UNDP, and its significant role in supporting the government's efforts in recovery, development, and institutional reform.

For his part, de Croo reviewed the results of his field visit to the Gaza Strip and his observation of the ground conditions amidst the significant needs in the sector. He called for the expansion of the work of UN agencies in the sector regarding relief efforts and humanitarian assistance, as well as the entry of materials for rubble removal, temporary housing, and medical supplies.
